October 13th

It does not bode well, in culinary circles, when hubby comes home to find 26 containers all over the table with labels such as 'fenny snake' or 'poisoned entrails'.  "What's for dinner?" quickly becomes "Let's eat out".

I have sorted all the jars, bottles, and vessels and stuck post-it notes on them all saying what they will contain.  I think I have most sorted out....just looking for something to use as intestines.  I think most noodles, even soba noodles, are too thin for this purpose.

Some opaque jars will just have labels and people will have to use their imaginations.  Some, like the love potions and Baboon's blood, will be done with food color only.  For others, I plan to use things like a rubber snake or frog, food coloring, and the snap glow sticks to make the whole bottle glow.  Unfortunately the glow sticks must be snapped at the last minute so I cannot do as elaborate seals on the tops of the bottles.

I had planned to use melted crayons to simulate dripping wax.  I also have rustic looking twine to wrap around the tops.  Some jars are missing lids, so I am going to cut out fabric circles and tie them on with ribbon or twine so that they look like jam jars from church bake sales (only more menacing).

I hope it all turns out as cool as I hope.
